Head-on collision kills 3 people

According to the California Highway Patrol, a head-on collision that occurred on Nov. 13 on Highway 101 killed three people. The accident occurred around 12:40 p.m. near Willits just south of Holland Lane, reportedly.

The California Highway Patrol stated that a 75-year-old Sebastool man in a southbound Toyota Camry crossed over the centerline and entered into the highway's northbound lane. There he collided with an oncoming Toyota Prius driven by an 89-year-old woman, authorities said.

The collision killed the 75-year-old man, the 89-year-old Prius driver and a 62-year-old male passenger in the Prius, according to officials. Following that collision, the Prius was struck by a 2001 Acura with a 21-year-old driver who escaped the crash without injuries, reportedly. The three individuals who were killed were all pronounced dead by officials at the scene of the accident.

Authorities indicated they are not certain what caused the 75-year-old man to veer into oncoming traffic. Following the wreck, Highway 101 was closed in the vicinity of the crash for several hours while law enforcement conducted an investigation into the multi-vehicle wreck.

When people are killed in a car accident, their families may seek out the counsel and guidance of an attorney with experience in wrongful death cases. For, in the event that civil action is warranted, certain family members of the decedents might be awarded restitution for the end-of-life costs and noneconomic damages they suffered on account of their loved one's unforeseen death. If the driver responsible for the deadly wreck was killed, bereaved families may still file a lawsuit against the responsible driver's estate. Recoverable damages include such things as funeral and burial expenses, lost income, pain and suffering and loss of companionship.
