Pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver in California
A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver outside of El Cajon in the early morning of July 28. The driver later told police that he did not know he had hit a person so he continued home after the impact. He is reportedly cooperating with police in the investigation, and officials do not believe alcohol had played a role in the accident.
Woman dies in fatal highway accident
A Honda Civic was involved in a fatal accident in California on July 17. One woman died in the crash, and two males were injured near Bass Lake.
Semi-truck crash on State Route 223 kills motorcyclist
The California Highway Patrol reports that a motorcyclist died in a semi-truck accident on July 8. The fatal accident happened on Highway 223 near Arvin.
2-car accident on California highway kills 60-year-old man
One motorist was killed and three were injured in a crash in Tulare County on July 5. According to the police, speeding and alcohol factored in to the early morning accident.

The unofficial kickoff to summer (Memorial Day) saw more than 36 million Americans taking to highways in order to get to a vacation destination. With the Fourth of July holiday drawing near, chances are that freeways will be clogged again with weekend vacation traffic. According to the American Automobile Association (AAA) more than 40 million people will travel at least 50 miles to a destination, with a majority doing so by car.
