Truck accident in Central California injures 2 truckers

A crash occurred on southbound Highway 99 near Le Grand on Oct. 7, reportedly. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 2:15 p.m. crash involved a car and two big rigs.

A 42-year-old man was traveling south on the highway in a tractor-trailer near Sandy Mush Road when he swerved and struck another tractor-trailer on its right side, according to CHP. The contact caused the driver of the second tractor-trailer, a 63-year-old man, to lose control of the vehicle. Consequently, the second tractor-trailer rolled over, CHP stated.

Subsequent to that collision, the first tractor-trailer continued traveling in the southbound lanes, ultimately hitting a 1998 Saturn driven by a 42-year-old Five Points man, authorities said. The impact of the collision caused the car to spin out of control, reportedly. The tractor-trailer careened off of the highway, eventually coming to a halt upright, near the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.

Emergency personnel transported the 63-year-old driver of the second tractor-trailer to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with serious injuries, authorities reported. The drivers of the Saturn and the first tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries in the wreck, purportedly.
