According to authorities, a collision that occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 in East Whittier fatally wounded two individuals. A 54-year-old woman was driving a 2007 Lexus IS 250 when she was struck by a 1999 Isuzu Trooper driven by a 24-year-old man. The incident happened on First Avenue just north of the unincorporated county area of Candlelight Drive.
