4 die on Highway 50 in crash caused by wrong-way Prius

Shortly after the California Highway Patrol dispatch received a call that a Toyota Prius was driving the wrong way on westbound Highway 50 in Sacramento County, the Prius struck a pickup truck head on. The CHP responded to the accident and reported that four people, a 19-year-old woman and three men, had died at the scene.

Driver says coughing made him lose control in fatal crash

An eastbound big rig on the 210 freeway in San Fernando Valley drove down an embankment before crashing into vehicles on an exit ramp. The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident happened near Lake View Terrace and Pacoima on April 17. A 32-year-old man died, and five more people were injured.

Hit-and-run driver in fatal car crash held without bail

The 35-year-old man from San Jose whose 2011 Nissan Frontier pickup rear-ended a Ford Taurus on Highway 101 south of De La Cruz Boulevard has been arrested and jailed. According to the California Highway Patrol, he is being held in the Santa Clara County Jail without bail on suspicion of driving under the influence and manslaughter for the hit-and-run car accident.

A study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety on teenager driving behavior may be of interest to California parents and drivers. The report revealed that teenagers engaged in distracted driving prior to accidents more often than previously thought.
